Late I know... but Blogger has been giving me a hard time lately by eating my photos every time I tried to upload them! I actually had to copy the HTML code of the photos each time I uploaded them just so I could paste them again each time Blogger crashed! Very time consuming! But anyway...

Wow what an amazing month we had! We were blessed with the fantastic opportunity to visit GISBORNE - where Kayla finally got to meet the rest of her NZ family!!

It was a awesome catching up with our NZ family and friends again, and Kayla especially loved meeting all of her little cuzzy's! We actually stayed a week longer than we had planned because unfortunately Kayla was too ill to fly, so we had to rebook our flights when she was given the all clear. But we didn't complain! We weren't ready to come back then anyway! *giggles*

Kayla was actually very good on the flights - both to and from Gisborne. She was a little hectic in between flights though - wanting to run a muck in the airports and stalking every other child she could find - but we dealt with it. hehe!

It's amazing how much Kayla matured in the 2 weeks we were in NZ, just by spending time with other children. She has always been quite a fast learner but we found that she tends to learn things better from other children. I think it's because she can obviously relate to children better and finds it easy to copy what they do, because she is a child herself. It's easier for her to mimic children than to mimic Adults.

She certainly learnt a lot from her little cousin Bonnie! She very much adores Bonnie and was eager to do what ever Bonnie could do. At one time when I brought Kayla over for a play date with Bonnie - with in minutes I pulled out my camera to take a photo of her and Bonnie. Bonnie posed for the camera and said "Cheeeese" and to my surprise - so did Kayla! She's never done that before and I was quite impressed how she immediately picked it up.

Bonnie taught her many things - like climbing up high and jumping on the couch (haha!) Just your usual kids stuff, but she had great determination to be a big girl like Bonnie! It was really cute watching Kayla with the kids - she would act like a big girl around Bonnie (who is about 17 months older than Kayla) but then when she would play with little Jake (who is 8 months younger) she would act like a baby and crawl around with him.

She learnt a lot of good habits from her NannySue too. Sue taught Kayla Hot and Cold, I don't know how... but what ever she did - by the end of the day she was going around touching cold drinks and saying "Oooo Cold" and touching warm cups of tea saying "Hot!" I was very impressed with that and it has been good because she now can tell me if she is feeling too cold and needs a Jersey or Blankee. She's also learnt to clean up after herself and reach for a sponge to wipe up her messes!

Other latest words she has picked up are - "Ny Nys" which she says when she is ready for bed, "Bickie" when she wants a biscuit, "Nana" obviously referring to her Nanna, "More" when she wants more of something, "Up" when she wants to be lifted, "Car" when she wants to go for a drive, "Bubbles" for when she wants a bath.... just to name a few. There are many more I just can't think of at this stage. Oh! She says her own name now too.

One funny thing she does lately is say "Hello Bubba" to everyone she sees! I don't know where on Earth she picked it up from but she just started saying it out of the blue one day - to everyone and she says it with such enthusiasm too - it's pretty hilarious.

One cute memory for me this month was when Kayla was on the hunt for her bottle! While staying at Sue's one day - she instructed me to lift her up and put her in the porter cot which she had been sleeping in. So I lifted her in there and then she started throwing the pillows around and lifting the sheets, saying "Wheresdabottle? Wheresdabottle?" It was sooo funny! Because that is what I do when I look for her bottle - I'm always tearing her cot apart looking for the damn thing and I'll repeatedly ask Kayla "Wheres the Bottle?" - Little smarty pants!

But the cutest moment would have to be her little performance she gave me and Dan. She has taken an interest in the TV Show Glee - well the musical segments anyway. One night after arriving back home - Glee was on and a song came up. When the cast break into a song - they always run around the stage room singing and dancing dramatically, it's a little too cheesy for my liking but Kayla loves it. All of a sudden she springs up (she was laying on the bean bag at the time) and busts into a dance, starts running around the room howling singing! My gosh it was funny! I was literally in stitches on the floor!! She is a total heart melter!

She is pretty good at pronouncing her words correctly but there are a few that she can have trouble with. Like lately we are trying to teach her good manners - but she can't quite pronounce "Thank you" instead it comes out "Cuckoo" haha! At least she does try. Then there are words that she refuses to say. I can get her to repeat almost anything back to me - but when ever I try and get her to say "Poppy" she will say "Dada"! She calls my Dad "Dada" - so she knows exactly who we are talking about when we say Poppy, but just refuses to say it! Funny little thing!

Ok... this post is getting pretty long so I'd better get to the photos, but one last thing... We have tried forever to get Kayla to talk on the phone to people, she is always too happy to just pick up the phone and yap away to no-one (or even to the robot voice that says "the number you have called is not available") but when ever there is an actual person on the other line - she will go completely silent!

But the other day when JMay called, Bonnie asked if she could speak to Kayla. I said that I would put Kayla on but warned her that she will probably not speak coz she is a little shy on the phone.... WELL - as soon as Kayla heard Bonnie's voice - she just started yapping her little heart out to her! I couldn't believe it! All she really knew how to say was "Hello Bubba!!" but she said it over and over again to keep up with the conversation! haha!! So it seems that she will only talk to Bonnie on the phone!

By the way I just want to say a HUGE Thanks to Sue who let us stay with her in NZ and helped us sooo much with Kayla! Thank you Sue... we look forward to a visit from you next! =D xx
